Band - Timosaurus

TIMOSAURUS is an improvised music trio based in Oakland, CA, and Paris. Shortly after graduating from Oberlin Conservatory in Ohio and relocating to California, Matt Nelson (woodwinds) and Andrew Conklin (guitar) began playing as a duo. The fruits of their early collaborations were a show at the Luggage Store Gallery with New York trombonist Sam Kulik and a short collection of songs released as The Dortmunder Duo. In November 2007, Timosaurus was reborn with the addition of dynamic percussionist Sam Ospovat, and the group quickly gelled into its current form. The trio logged many months of late night, beer-infused rehearsals, developing its unique use of textures, themes, and musical forms to create improvisations that often sound like pre-composed songs, and pre-composed songs that often sound like improvisations. Since playing its first show at The Cool Cat Gallery in Sacramento, Timosaurus has become an active voice the Bay Area experimental music community, performing at 1510 Performance Space, Mama Buzz, The Ivy Room, The Argus Lounge, 5427 Telegraph, Delta of Venus, True Love, UC Davis, and many other venues throughout the Bay and Sacramento areas. The groups new album, "Cartography," is currently available in Starbucks stores nationwide.
